F. A. Hayek, 'The Fatal Conceit' Chapter 8, 'The Extended Order and Population Growth'

Kill the human. Save the mud turtle. [the new morality....]

by StFerdIII

Reds, Communists, Marxists, Eco-intolerants [fascists], and the generally deranged [mentally imbalanced] cadre of great 'thinkers' have always mused a la Paul Ehrlich, about the destruction of the earth-mother by the virus previously known as homo-sapiens. For the dialectical activist [now called scientist], the population growth of the hated human [we need more state funded abortion clinics]; is the most pressing issue at hand. Like maggots on meat the human parasite is capering over a thin crust of goddess Gaia's skin, reducing the harmonious balance of the biosphere and the holistic equations of natural biology into a polluted carbon sink, stinking, diseased, immoral and cancerous. The only solution – kill the human, wipe out the modern world, wear animal skins, pray to neolithic idols.

Hayek understood the relationship between the intolerant cult of the neolithic, and the demise of the modern world. Elevate the new stone age; debase and eradicate the modern:

Destroying its material foundation in order to attain the 'ethical' or instinctually gratifying improvements advocated by socialists would be tantamount to condoning the death of billions and the impoverishment of the rest.”

The 'moderate' Eco-Intolerance cult finds it 'moral' to condemn billions of humans to either suffering or death by denying them, and the mass at large, the use of modern technology, carbon, systems, capital and development. But note that the eco-cult and its members would not be subject to the same strictures as the rest of the peasant mass. For them the trains, cars, airplanes and mansions will still be utilized and occupied. It is the rest that must not wash their hair, walk to work, and cook their raw freshly caught meals over state approved fire pits.

There are many benefits to having a large human population, not the least of which is diversity of skills, ideas and effort:

With the intensification of exchange, and improving techniques of communication and transportation, an increase in numbers and density of occupation makes division of labour advantageous, leads to radical diversification, differentiation and specialisation, makes it possible to develop new factors of production, and heightens productivity.”

In other words the human population can continue to grow because of skill development and an increase in output derived by labour specialisation. Not only does the overall population grow wealthier, but it can do so indefinitely as material evolution and advances proceed and are created faster than the overall growth in population. To reject the evolution of either skill diversification, or of differentiation, both of which are dependent on trade and exchange is to be anti-humanist, a loather of humanity, a person who through their own self-hatred, projects their mental imbalances on humanity as a whole.

Capitalism created the possibility of employment. It created the conditions wherein people who have not been endowed by their parents with the tools and land needed to maintain themselves and their offspring could be so equipped by others, to their mutual benefit.”

Diversification of skills and the profits of trade allow further specialisation. Few farm now. 30 years ago no real computer industry existed. 20 years ago mobile phone jobs were scarce. In energy, pharma, machine making, autos, applied sciences, and consumables, the extended trade order has reconfigured wealth, jobs and living standards – to the benefit of all. There is no welfare state without a capital system. Period.

Karl Marx was right to claim that 'capitalism' created the proletariat: it gave them life.”

Trade, investment, capital accumulation and job creation certainly gave people education, health, opportunity and a dynamic economy. It gave them choice, freedom to move, and reaffirmed free speech and free-will. No other system in history has blessed humanity more.

But what do we hear today ? Capital is bad. Banksters are capitalist criminals [some indeed are, especially those who take bailouts from the state]. The rich are evil and need to be taxed into poverty. The workers are oppressed by the elite [true, but mostly in a political context].

Thus without the rich – without those accumulated capital – those poor who could exist at all would be very much poorer indeed, scratching a livelihood from marginal lands on which every drought would kill most of the children they would be trying to raise.”

The 'childrens future', a socialist rallying cry for programs of all sizes, is thus better served within a market system. That truism seems lost on the cult of the eco, who maintain that Ameri-Indian life was the pinnacle of human achievement, or that neo-lithic worship of fertility figurines the apotheosis of intellectual triumphs.

Socialists, Eco Fascists, disgruntled and self-loathing Reds and Greens [the colors now merge]; hate the market order because they are on the one hand too ignorant to understand it; and on the other dismayed that they cannot control it:

....the extended order is probably the most complex structure in the universe – a structure in which biological organisms that are already highly complex have acquired the capacity to learn, to assimilate, parts of suprapersonal traditions enabling them to adapt themselves from moment to moment into an ever-changing structure....”

For the simple-minded platitude espousing Red and Green, it is change which they live in fear of and try to prevent. Such an attitude reminds one of the constitution of Sparta – a document which had has its goal the complete disavowal of change and the institution – forever – of a certain social ideal inured to evolution. The fanaticism of the 'intellectual' Left with abortions, killing humans, wiping out civilization, and consigning humanity – which they view as a disease – to poverty is utterly fantastic and shocking. What is even more insipid is that such twaddle is accepted in the media and educational systems as 'smart', 'moral' and designed to save the earth mother. Neolithic cults do little to save the earth mother, and do nothing to elevate human life. They are pre-copper age trash, a fetish for those who abhor working and thinking.
