The Rage Against God: How Atheism Led Me to Faith by Peter Hitchens

The emptiness of the Atheist delusional.

by StFerdIII

Unlike Christians, atheists have a high opinion of their own virtue.” Peter Hitchens

Peter Hitchens is the lesser-known brother of the venerated-as-atheist-saint Christopher Hitchens, who is himself as sad a spectacle as that non-scientist atheist, and inveterate sci-fi writer named biologist, Richard Dawkins. Peter was a typical well-off British toff, inured to reality, steeped in marxism, keen on the bio-chemically impossible act of evolution. Perhaps as an antithetical exposition against his hysterical, anti-clerical, faith-hating goblin of a brother, allied with a realization that marxist-atheism leads to Nazism, Sovietism and the evil of communal socialism; he repented, converted and believed. Peter was in Moscow when the Atheist-Socialist experiment of Soviet ubermenschen collapsed. His book relates how that experience amongst many others relating to the failures of evolutionary-atheism and marxism; changed his life and allowed him to find his Christian faith.

Hitchens joins an ever growing list of atheists, such as Antony Flew, who after searching science, reason and what allowed civilization to develop; recant their sophomoric, immature ravings; and reject evolution, marxist dialecticism; and atheist fantasy, all of which leads to immorality, penury, cults and a society of the walking dead. Atheism or the belief that no higher power can possibly exist, is supported of course by the anti-deist doctrine of evolution, in which cells, organs, species and the natural world all arrived by chance, mutations and time. As if a cat or an eye was assembled by 'randomness' which by its very name means that no structures will ever be formed.

..difficulties of the anti-theists begin when they try to engage with anyone who does not agree with them, when their reaction is often a frustrated rage that the rest of us are so stupid. But what if that is not the problem? Their refusal to accept that others might be as intelligent as they, yet disagree, leads them into many snares.”

There is little that can be called intelligent in either atheism or evolution. For instance I have written extensively before on the nonsense of the 'Dark Age'; a pejorative aimed at Christianity by 'Enlightenment' egos such as Gibbon [a horrible writer and silly non-historian], and Voltaire [who fashioned himself a god, though he admitted he was also quite insane]; an era which was built on the reason, faith and science of a 1000 years of Christian effort.

..genius not contradicted or blocked by faith, but enhanced by it. The simple beauty of a hammer beam roof or a Norman chancel arch, let alone of the pillars in Durham nave, seems to be quite beyond the architects and builders of our enlightened age.”

The whole point of modern atheism is to wipe out the past and the current, by assaulting the bedrock of civilization, namely Christianity.

...intellectual assault on God in Europe and North America is in fact a specific attack on Christianity—the faith that stubbornly persists in the morality, laws, and government of the major Western countries.”

Hitchens relates how the Nazis and Soviets – atheistic, evolution supporting regimes – did the same. Part of the chaos in Russia post 1991 has to do with the eradication of faith, and thus the loss of the moral-civilizational compass that Christianity had bestowed on the Russian population. When the god of the state, and the propaganda of Soviet superiority crashed, there was nothing left for society to grab onto. Chaos is the natural order where vacuums arise.

Godless emptiness helps to explain why post-Communist Russia has struggled so hard to cope with unaccustomed liberty and has gone so rapidly from being a thought-police state to being a gangster state, with an interlude of chaos in between.”

When you remove the culture of civilization from existence, all that is left, is the cult of the state, power, ruthlessness, a certain tinge of anarchy mixed with overwhelming violence.

Lenin—the absolute atheist, lover of violence, and begetter of the 1917 putsch—that brought the Russian Bolsheviks to power: Lenin insisted, as the basis of all his teaching, on a resolute denial of there being any known manifestation of the supernatural.”

...the Godless principle that the strongest is always right has been openly declared as recently as the twentieth century in Mussolini’s Italy and operated in practice in Hitler’s Germany, Stalin’s Soviet Union, and many other states.”

Communist campaign against Christmas, a festival that—because it is so much loved by children—arouses the special hostility of utopian despots at all times and in all places. Pointing out that the sale of Christmas trees was then strictly forbidden in Moscow (except to foreigners in special hard-currency shops), Chamberlin [writer based in Moscow in the 1930s], quotes from a little pamphlet aimed at schoolchildren, “Against the Christmas Tree.” This publication was one in a series called “The Library of the Young Atheist,” whose time has plainly almost come around again.”

Atheists and marxists love to brainwash the children, corrupt the young, march the youth around, poison their minds with lies and fables. Hitler's Germany and Stalin's utopia were masters at destroying reason in children, inculcating them with evolution, scientific socialism, the state as god, and their duty being only that of slaves serving their state-masters. Make Christmas a festival of the insane. Tie Christ to fables and fairy tales. Slander Christianity and its achievements. Elevate science fiction into newspeak truth; such as Co2 causes 'warming'; reptiles jumped from trees and became birdies; or the big bang chaos naturally created order, spinning orbs, planets and tulips. Insanity of all it.

The Rage Against God is really the struggle for our own existence:

..secularized societies still benefiting from the freedoms that flowed from centuries of Christianity. We have forgotten how we arrived at our civilized state.”

Indeed we have forgotten.
