So the AIDS conference in Toronto has turned into a love-in for the sexually promiscuous, deviant and careless. Big surprise. The AIDS industry is annually worth $10 billion and apparently society has a duty to spend more to help people that practice deviant sexual methods, shoot up drugs, exchange needles and carelessly pass their infections on to innocents, many of them unsuspecting wives and girlfriends. Perhaps if society stated clearly that unprotected anal sex; drug use; heroin needle exchanges; and prostitution were immoral and unworthy activities we would not have an AIDS ‘epidemic’ which in any case kills 200% less per annum than malaria and tuberculosis. But mere facts and standards are not interesting for the crying activists, smarmy reptilian vote-buying politicians or their media-circus friends. In fact these groups all scream for policies that are counter productive to limiting AIDS but buy the ‘sensitive, one-world, everything is relatively great’ vote: legalise prostitution; have needle exchanges; recognize gay-marriage; reward the gay life-style; and lower all moral, civic and educational standards. The entire AIDS-Pandemic industry and circus is wearing thin.
According to a great book by Michael Fumento [1990: The Myth of Heterosexual AIDS] and his updated commentary and many others that are doing real research into AIDS, there is no proof of a heterosexual AIDS ‘epidemic’. AIDS is entirely a drug dealer-prostitution-homosexual-unprotected sex issue running rampant in Russia, South Asia and Africa. Close to 40% of AIDS cases are in homosexual males; 20% in drug users; 20 % are prostitutes [male and female] and most of the rest are people ensnared in the above groups, or unfortunately infected with blood transfusions from carriers. Only a fraction were children or heterosexuals not included in the above list [less than 1 %]. AIDS has very specific social-deviant targets and the Toronto gab-fest on AIDS glibly ignores this fact.
Nor is AIDS a particularly vile threat in industrialized countries. In Canada there were about 270 AIDS deaths in 2005 but 130,000 cancer related deaths. So where should research money which is finite, be spent? Breast cancer claims 500 times more victims than AIDS but receives less donated money. But what about Africa the good folk will wail? Like with all advocacy campaigns AIDS deaths, infections and related issues are all exaggerated to good effect to elicit money and support.
In 1985 Ugandan ministers declared that in 10 years their country would be a desert without people. Since then the population has doubled. Various predications were made in 1985 that 50 million Africans would be dead by 2000 – in fact by 2005 20 millions have died, a horrific figure but 250% lower than predictions running from 1985 to 1995. In various countries in Africa and elsewhere UN and advocacy groups have shrilly stated that 30% or more of entire populations are infected with AIDS. When these claims are investigated in Rwanda, Uganda and South Africa for instance, the actual infection rates fall to 3-6%. While 6% is too high, it is a far cry from 1/3 of the population. This should tell us that AIDS can be contained and that it is not an epidemic amongst the general population but only within certain subgroups.
Of course the AIDS and pandemic activists always need more money. There is no point, according to their world view, to truly get busy and tackle the ‘root causes’ of AIDS – immorality, prostitution, drug use, heroin needle exchanges, unprotected anal sex, lack of education amongst blacks and poor Russians [two of the hardest hit ethnicities on the planet]. No of course not. The answer is as always – more money! More money to administer, more money for AIDS relief offices, more money for research and more money for AIDS conferences. None of these so-called worthy efforts will solve the AIDS problem of course. But more money will sustain and nourish the expanding and increasingly shrill AIDS industry.
According to the Useless Nations about 1.5 million people worldwide received anti-retroviral therapy last year – a number that keeps increasing impressively each year. Education has likewise sky-rocketed and the common-sensical practice of screening blood before allowing it to be donated is now being implemented in many countries. These three firm, practical and targeted solutions will do more to help alleviate the spread of AIDS than all the mad jamborees and do-gooder speeches by activists seeking more money for their pet scheme of ‘curing’ AIDS or making society aware of a prostitutes right to work in safety. TB and malaria for instance kill two times the number of people each year as AIDS and we could cure both for less than $100 per infected person. Yet the world spends 3 times more on AIDS [$10 billion] than on TB and Malaria. Obviously the TB and malaria groups are not hysterical enough and not exaggerating their claims enough to get media support and donor interest.
But there is a deeper problem at issue here with the AIDS activist gab-fest in Toronto. The fundamental premise of the advocacy is one of malignant lies and distortions. AIDS targets deviant sub-groups of the general population in which prevention is the cure. By condoning these life-styles, or ignoring their pernicious effects, or even in some cases wanting to legalize them, we demonstrate our current low threshold of standards, morality and public interest. Advocacy groups at the very least must tell the truth and the media must present the advocacy in context with facts and high standards. Neither is evidence with the AIDS topic.
As with most left-liberal positions the egalitarians and the relativity-socialist supporters are doing their cause and the world a grave disservice. It is high time to shut off the AIDS pandemic scaremongering and focus on how to prevent and solve a disease that targets selected sub groups of our population. There is money aplenty, but alas as usual not enough honesty or brains.
