Time to wipe out Hamas.
Weakness and 'International opinion' amounts to idiocy and murder.
by StFerdIII
There have been some excellent recent articles on Hamas and their threat to liberty and Israel [National Post and FrontPage]. Yet Hamas rarely makes the mainstream media news. It is a racist, abhorrently violent Islamic terrorist group dedicated to murdering innocents, civil society and the liberal Jewish state. It is high time to end Hamas by destroying it militarily and killing its leaders.
When Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005, us 'neo cons' all voiced the opinion that it was a colossal mistake and show of weakness. Thus emboldened Hamas has gotten only stronger and more violent - not more dovish and pliable. Now the Jewish state with only 5.4 million people surrounded by 300 million Arabs, finds itself in an untenable position. Threatened militarily, with its security compromised by the Hamas takeover of its southern 'buffer' zone, the Jews are left with a dwindling array of options and a mounting toll of dead innocents.
Since 2005 Hamas has fired about 2000 rockets into Israel and has detonated dozens of bombs in Jewish civilian areas, killing on March 6 2008 some 30 odd people in Jerusalem in a suicide attack for example. These 700 rocket attacks per year, or 2 per day, are targeted especially upon the Jewish town of Sderot, which has an unfortunate geographical proximity to the Gaza strip. Until recently the Jews have done little to secure the Gaza border and annihilate the rocket launching sites of Hamas. The issue? Hamas is firing missiles from inside urban ghettoes and civilian areas.
The Israeli government finally did act recently when it sent in bombers and fighters and killed some 100 terrorists and civilians near the Gaza rocket sites. As one would expect the 'international community', the cowardly EU-topians and the useless United Nations condemned the Israeli attacks – but not the 700 rockets fired by Hamas into unarmed Jewish centers.
Now reports are legion that the crude Kassam rockets targeting Sderot which is only a few miles from the Gaza border, are being replaced by Iranian 'Grad' rockets, with greater range and power. Soon the Islamic fascists can start firing rockets well into Israel up to a distance of 25 miles perhaps, putting literally hundreds of thousands of innocents at risk. Yet the Jewish response to this gathering storm has been anything but robust or forward looking.
Many theories exist as to why the Jewish defence forces don't launch a ground assault and wipe out Hamas. The most coherent of these might be that the only effective way to stop Hamas is to retake control of Gaza, which is something Israel is very reluctant to do because it is not interested in assuming responsibility for Gaza's million plus inhabitants. There is some sense to this. The reason why Sharon pulled out of Gaza in 2005 was to decrease the length of Israel's border, and expel from Israel 1 million hungry, angry and illiterate Arabs who will only add to the future demographic imbalance within Israel between Arab and Jew. There is some social logic in this.
But why not just invade Gaza, eliminate Hamas, kill its leaders, occupy the area for a few years and than leave? This makes more sense. Invade, occupy and make sure that no terrorist activity can emanate again from this ill-begotten patch of rotted Arab hell. The Jews should annihilate Hamas, and then hand over Gaza to the illustrious United Nations to patrol and manage. Surely the UN so concerned with Arab rights would not refuse such a magnificent chance to demonstrate its keen interest in all things Islamic and show solidarity with the Muslim bloc that effectively runs the organisation?
Once Hamas and the fascist elements in Gaza are destroyed the Jews can wall off the border and shut it down. If the Arabs allow their Arab brethren to starve in Gaza, or if the UN does nothing and mass extinction ensues, than that is the justifiable fruits of Arab hate and murder. The Jews owe these people nothing.
The key aspect is that Israel must take ownership for its own security and smash Hamas completely. The half-hearted Jewish attempt to crush Hizbollah in 2006 in Lebanon reveals the futility of using only partial force. With the UN patrolling a safe-border area, Hizbollah has now replenished its rocket and missile arsenal and rebuilt many of its emplacements, including south of the Litani River - the area from which, according to the international force's explicit charge, Hizbollah was to be prevented from reestablishing its former strongholds. Hizobollah is ready for the next war. Israel is not. But Israel needs to trust only to itself for its survival, as one expert stated:
'Israel can expect little from the international community, even as much of the world faces threats similar to those confronting the Jewish state. The bigotry of the UN, myriad NGO's the EU and many nations, including in Europe, toward Israel has hardly been moderated by the growth of the Islamist threat worldwide. Indeed, to a large degree the opposite is true: the growth of the Islamist threat has led many to a greater eagerness to sacrifice Israel to its enemies in the deluded hope of thereby moderating the threat to themselves.'
Hamas is a mortal threat to Israel and the West. Time to wipe it out.
