Canada is still a great country. 50 years of socialism, neo-Marxism, and cultural degradation notwithstanding, the country has a proud legacy which imparts many positives. It is free, it is now less socialist than the Black Jesus-led, DisUnited States, and it is more productive, robust, and energetic, than the Muslim afflicted, and socially paralyzed EU-topia. Some of the trends in Canada are negative, but there is still hope. Canada is not a multi-cultural, Mother-Earth and diversity-obsessed state. Only the elite, the academics and media pray before these cults. In reality Canada is a British and somewhat French cultural state. It is wealthy, full of educated and innovative people. Canadians are some of the most optimistic, faith-driven, hard-working and realistic of people. It is doubtful if they will allow their political elite to destroy their state, as politicians in the US and Europe have done. Canada is still great.
Ten reasons why Canada is still great:
1) A civilization created from nothing;
Canada was manufactured from some of the most desolate, barren and undeveloped land in the world. The early Europeans created civilization where only barbarity and stone age ideals existed. Canada in-toto, is the emblematic expression of modernity and development – hacked out of a wilderness, by strong, confident people.
2) British Legacy
The richest states on the globe derive their wealth from their British legacy. Individualism, resourcefulness, the law, constitutional division of powers and the Christian heritage of England, are some of the derivatives of British culture and modernity. These attributes created the modern world.
3) Practicality
Canadians are in the main a reasonable and practical group. The reality of the world's political – economy; the smallness of the population; and its geographical location and topography make rational, practicality a necessity if not a blessing. Canadians like to get the job done and that is a cultural attitude that the cultural Marxists will never be able to neuter.
4) Its military
Canadians fought against the Boer regime in South Africa in 1899-1902, a war fought by the British partly over to end the enslavement of Blacks by Dutch farmers. Canadians have been on the right side of history fighting against German militarism, German and Russian Fascism, and lately Islamic Fascism in Afghanistan. The military is too small, under-funded and largely ignored, but its history is emblematic of the country's clear thinking on the major threats against civilization.
5) Local governance
Canada had a long history of local governance and low taxation. This can be the future. The more layers of government, the worst it is for the people. Canada developed unique and effective local governing institutions. This is a legacy which needs to return. Canadians know that less government is more.
6) Fairness and charity
Canadians give far more to charity than Europeans. If the tax base was lowered, and the iron boot of government removed from the necks of Canadians, charities would blossom. The entire welfare system of Toronto for example would simply collapse if the Christian and non-denominated charities did not exist which help the homeless; the youth; the sick and the old. Canadians are in the main, moral and compassionate.
7) Innovative
Many inventions and technologies have been created in Canada over the past 150 years. When capital is made available and the tax system is fair, Canadians are as productive and innovative as any group on the planet. It is fair to say that many Canadians are natural entrepreneurs. The country needs to release the energy of its people, not tie it down.
8) Free speech
The Human Rights Commissions are trying to destroy free speech by criminalizing certain content and expressions. But they won't succeed. Canadians like to voice opinions. Most recognize that even if you disagree with someone, they still have a natural-law right to express their views. Without the freedom to speak, you don't have a free society.
9) Free Trade
Canadians are blessed by the benefices of Free Trade. At any time of the year a Canadian can buy produce, fruit or products from the USA, Mexico, Chile, Israel, China and Europe. Trade keeps prices down; and product choice up. Trade demands competition and innovation. Canadians support trade and a majority recognize that Free Trade makes everyone in society better off.
10) The poem and song O Canada – one of the best expressions of pride in the world. Pride based on real facts, important attributes and Canada's contributions to the modern world.
[The original poem of 1908 by Stanley Weir.]
O Canada! Our home and native land!
True patriot love thou dost in us command.
We see thee rising fair, dear land,
The True North, strong and free;
And stand on guard, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee.
Refrain
O Canada! O Canada!
O Canada! We stand on guard for thee.
O Canada! We stand on guard for thee.
O Canada! Where pines and maples grow.
Great prairies spread and lordly rivers flow.
How dear to us thy broad domain,
From East to Western Sea,
Thou land of hope for all who toil!
Thou True North, strong and free!
Refrain
O Canada! O Canada! etc.
O Canada! Beneath thy shining skies
May stalwart sons and gentle maidens rise,
To keep thee steadfast through the years
From East to Western Sea,
Our own beloved native land!
Our True North, strong and free!
Refrain
O Canada! O Canada! etc.
Ruler supreme, who hearest humble prayer,
Hold our dominion within thy loving care;
Help us to find, O God, in thee
A lasting, rich reward,
As waiting for the Better Day,
We ever stand on guard.
Refrain
O Canada! O Canada! etc.
The poem full of hope, Christian ideals, and humility. Very Canadian. Very appropriate. Lots of problems and threats exist in Canada. High taxes, too much government, cultural Marxism, a too deep tolerance of Islam and the Feminist-Gay agenda; an addiction to political statism; Human Rights Commissions; the CBC; regional transfers; welfare; socialized health care......these and other distortions are unnecessary, immoral and uncivil. But in Canada, there is always hope to change for the better and to repair what is broken. This is not true in most countries. Canada is still great, even if the threats to that greatness are apparent all too real.
