Plenty of cults exist - every cult has its 'religious dogma', its idols, its 'prophets', its 'science', its 'proof' and its intolerant liturgy of demands. Cults everywhere: Corona, 'The Science' or Scientism, Islam, the State, the cult of Gender Fascism, Marxism, Darwin and Evolution, Globaloneywarming, Changing Climate, Abortion...
Tempus Fugit Memento Mori - Time Flies Remember Death
Few theories are more obnoxious than toxic multiculturalism. Except for maybe Marxist-Leninism, Eco-fascism, Islam, National-Socialism or Paganism, (or perhaps they are all related). As Americans and Canadians take time off to enjoy their National holidays it might be beneficial to consider the similarities which exist between utopian-fantasy and dangerous ideal. If you allow the media, the political elite and the screaming hordes of holier-than-thou-charlatans to control national destiny then don’t be surprised if destiny turns into disaster and uni-culture turns into a multi-cultural miasma.
This is not to say that cultural differences are not interesting, enticing or necessary. Huntington’s clash of civilizations is primarily cultural, not religious, after all. War is caused by many factors, but cultural dissimilarity, along with trade and resource (or land) control ensures conflict. So the multi-cult club’s aim is noble-arrest discord through cultural relativity through the idea that all societies’ ideas and histories are equal. It sounds peasant until you realize the gravity of unintended consequences.
The sellers of the multi-cult club are not evil-just naïve, dumb or at the political level, narcissistic, power-mongerers. The development of history does have many interpretations, but it only has one set of facts and one vision of reality based on such facts. While trying to understand other viewpoints is well and good affirming the worst of your civilization by accepting cultural-relativity of decidedly inferior cultures is a sign of civilizational weakness, not strength.
Oriana Fallaci who died last year wrote some wonderful books on Islam’s cultural threat to the west. She was decidedly morose about Europe’s chances of not becoming an Arab-Vassal state. She wrongly paralled ancient Rome’s decline with current EU-Topian weakness, but her point is clear-empires collapse when the cultural virility and ethos of civilizational energy and longer exists. (Fallaci was of course sued by various EU states and Muslim groups for hate speech.)
In many cities on July 1st (Canada Day) and July 4th (Independence Day) , demonstrations honoring the creation of North America (sans Mexico); the richest, most vibrant and in many ways the most moral of creations in history, will not happen. Instead Canadians and Americans will be confronted by Muslim congresses and protestations against ‘Islamo-Phobia’, native indian violence, sit ins, shut-downs and demands for land; and the visual and very ugly spectacle of anti-Americans, anti-capitalists and pro-greens (bowing low to Al Gore and the Earth cult), fanatically demanding and end to modernity. The fringe is no longer on the rough edges of society, it is becoming mainstream. Fallaci’s concern (along with many others) that ‘Western’ -culture is frail and spent is certainly accurate if a little over-stated.
I would guess that the vast majority of ‘Western’ citizens are heartily sick of Multi-Culturalism. Many are displeased that the media, the educational and university systems as well as the political elite are so forthrightly behind historical and factual revisionism through obedience to ‘relativity’ nothing in life is relative, most people, (when not being polite to dumb poll questions on the topic), perfectly understand that neo-lithic, pre-Columbus America; Islam; Africa; and totalitarian systems are inferior civilizations. Our civilization has so far been superior in every way over the competition. Pure and simple.
Appeasing native Indians through land transfers, tax-money, and setting up another ‘nation within a nation’, is bound to fail. Cowering from Islam’s cultural demographic and military war on the west (abetted by petro-dollars and technology) is likewise not too bright. Teaching Howard Zinn’s Marxist Fantasy ‘America, a People’s History’, which fully denigrates and ignores all of the virtues of U.S Republicanism is morbidly dishonest and detrimental. Outsourcing foreign policy to the U.N, erecting mercantilist and socialist policy at home and defaming the military and capital formation is likewise not too intelligent. We should know better.
Multi-Culturalism has intellectual allure but destructive derivatives. Strong uni-cultures survive. A state is blood, language, land, history and shared experiences. Canada and the U.S have a lot to be proud of. They are great and virile nations, in spite of the current disease of relativity, not because of it.
